Holton-le-Clay Junior School was rated as good overall – and good in all areas – in its latest Ofsted report.
The inspector said that pupils were confident, articulate, and well-behaved, and clearly very proud of their school.
The report highlighted the enthusiasm of pupils and their participation in musical, sporting and artistic activities as an important factor in their personal development.
It also said that the strong partnership with Holton-le-Clay Infant School was helping to enhance pupils' achievement.
Executive head teacher Dawne Hunt, said: "We are extremely pleased with the report, which is a true reflection of the hard work of the children and staff and indicative of the support we get from governors, parents and the local community generally."
Commenting on the inspector's remarks about pupil behaviour, she added: "The children have a very positive attitude anyway and we try to make the curriculum as interesting and engaging as we can.
"We have an awful lot of sporting and musical activities going on and the children are very keen and want to come to school."
Mrs Hunt said the partnership with the infant school, where she is also head teacher, enabled teachers to share best practice across both schools.
The inspector also commented on the school's Fairtrade stand, which has been running for several years.
Mrs Hunt said: "The school's mission statement is 'to help pupils understand the world and each other.'
"We think it is important for the children to understand the culture of other nations and to appreciate the diversity of the world around them."
Amy Lowe, 11, said: "It's a really healthy school. We have a tuck shop with fruit and yoghurts. The teachers let you have a laugh but you need to get on with your work. My favourite subject is PE."
